Hooray!  I am, once again, a college student!  I signed up for French I at GRCC today, and I start Sept 5.  I need to know how to speak French somewhat when we go see Brian in Africa next year.  I hope I can concentrate in class for a whole hour...

A couple, Michelle and TJ, are also PCVs with Brian in Guinea, and they post to their site once in a while-  just another way to get more info in case anyone is interested.

Finally got a letter from Brian, and he knows where he'll be stationed-  it's in a town called Lelouma, just NW of Labe', in west-central Guinea.  It's in a more mountainous area, so the scenery will probably be beautiful, and the heat won't be so bad.  Right now it's winter there, the rainy season, and it's about 85 in the day and 75 at night.  I can just imagine how hot it will get in the summer season!  He sounds happy, and he even found out that he's missing people he loves, which is a huge concession from him!  But it made me feel better.

We get to babysit Terrie's cat-  I'm excited about that!  Hope it goes well between him and my 2 cats and 1 old dog-  sounds like an event-filled 2 weeks coming up!

Time for an update-

Brian is now in Guinea, West Africa with the Peace Corps.  He's in the 3-month training phase where they each live with a host family and study the language and what they need to know to do their job later.  After that they'll be assigned a post and work there for 2 years.  So unless I  raise the $5,000 for Tom and me to go see him, he'll be gone for that long.  Communication is bad, and he probably has no electricity or even plumbing, so I just have to be patient.  Hopefully he's happy with what he's chosen to do...

Terrie's finishing up her internship at Johnson Controls by Detroit, and will be starting her junior year of college in Sept.  She's very happy with where she is and what she's doing, plus she's good about emailing and calling, so she makes up for Brian.

The dog's driving me nuts-  he's getting deaf and neurotic, and we need to decide at which point he's past help.  That's such a difficult decision.  If he was in physical pain, it would be easier, but how do you measure mental pain?  And in a dog?

Seems like life is always complicated, never easy and settled.  But then I suppose it'd be boring.

Oh, yeah, I'm also finally dieting, so now even more peole know about it, which hopefully will keep me trying harder and longer.  2 lbs the first week, even with cheating, so I'm just keeping on-  wish me luck!  or strenth and will power.
